Top Ten MOST ANTICIPATED Comics for 7/22/2020

This is the weekly Top 10 of single-issue comics that are coming to comic shops this week - DC books on Tuesday and everything else on Wednesday. Before I jump into the list this week, a quick update on what else is going on with the WinMorr Games family: Over at The Comic Shop, which you can find at www.bookshop.org/shop/comics , I’m keeping some curated lists of comics and graphic novels updated weekly and I will also come out with a new list as often as I can. If you’re curious, you can browse books over there and you can order them on the spot. As a bookshop.org affiliate, I get 5% of sales proceeds, so I’m not quitting my day job or anything, but it is a way to support the blog.   Also, big news, I have joined comics twitter! Not sure this is a good idea, because doomscrolling is a thing, but I thought I’d give it a shot as a way to promote all the fun stuff I’ve got going on at WinMorr Games. If you’re a twitter-type person, you can find me over there ...

Comics Previews for 7/15/2020

This is the weekly Top 10 of single-issue comics that are coming out on New Comic Book Day, which is every Wednesday, with the exception of DC books that came out TODAY! Hopefully your shop picked up enough copies of your books that you can still get them and if not, you should ask them about their subscription service! Here are 10 books coming out the week of Wednesday, July 15.   1.      My Little Pony Friendship is Magic FCBD by Jeremy Whitley and Trish Forstner; FREE! I like to mention kids comics because they are so important to the overall market (just look at the Bookscan numbers, as reported by Brian Hibbs!) Also, apparently since Free Comic Book Day was cancelled we get Free Comic Book Summer, which is cool I guess. This week this one and X-Men and Power Rangers books are out, along with a couple of others. I have no idea how many retailers are going to go for this – they typically still have to purchase the books, but perhaps that is not the case ...

Comics Previews for 7/8/2020

Once again, I'm here to offer a quick take on a small sampling of new single-issue comics coming out  on New Comic Book Day. This is the weekly top ten for Wednesday, July 8 (with DC books out a day earlier on Tuesday, July 7). 1.        DC Classics Batman Adventures no. 2 by Kelley Puckett and Ty Templeton; $1.99 There are several Batman books out this week. We’ve got no. 94 from the main ongoing series, Batman the Adventures Continue no. 2, Batman’s Grave no. 8 and Detective Comics no. 1023. But the pick of the week goes to the reprint of Batman Adventures no. 2 featuring art by Ty Templeton. It’s only a dollar ninety-nine, and if you missed it the first time around, way back in the early 90’s, now’s your chance to pick it up. It’s great that DC is carrying forward the DC Animated Universe with Batman the Adventures Continue, but this one gets the nod for the fabulous price and for the nostalgia. 2.        Usagi Yoji...
